Compare free allowances, analysis and application workflows in DraftApply, Teal, Huntr, Kickresume and AIApply—with a focus on Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

A comparison by DraftApply. Features and free allowances checked on 15 October 2026 using the providers’ published information.

A cover-letter tool should help you explain why your experience matters for a particular role. For applications in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, it also helps to understand the vacancy, review local examples and keep your documents consistent. This is where DraftApply puts its focus: cover letters, useful analysis and the surrounding application work in one place.

What DraftApply brings to your application

    Analysis alongside your letter

Review your fit, relevant experience and gaps before deciding what to emphasise. Keep the letter, CV and next steps connected to the role.

    Five free letters every month

The Free plan includes five monthly cover letters, job-fit scoring, job overview and review, application tracking and email support.

A focus on Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Use country-specific guides and document examples to make international experience understandable in your target market.

    Care with facts and review

Our quality work focuses on factual consistency, reviewable changes and usable documents. You stay in control of the wording and the application you send.

DraftApply, Teal, Huntr, Kickresume and AIApply compared

Compare the work you want to do and the access included. We also include Karivo as a Switzerland-focused alternative. Analysis features may require a paid plan; the free column describes the published starting allowance.

    How our editorial stars work

The stars express our judgement of fit for someone preparing their own DACH application. We consider the letter workflow, useful analysis, free access and local guidance together. They are not customer ratings or scores from a writing-quality test. DraftApply publishes this comparison and is one of the products assessed.

5 = very strong fit with few trade-offs; 4 = strong fit with a clear limitation; 3 = useful with significant limits; 2 = narrow fit; 1 = poor fit for this use case. We leave a tool unrated when the reviewed information is insufficient. These are editorial judgements, not a calculated feature average.

    DraftApply

    Editorial fit
    Free starting point
5 cover letters per month, job-fit scoring, tracking and email support.
    Analysis and review
Job-fit evidence and gaps, CV tailoring and editable letters. Separate coaching workflows review application patterns.
    Why this assessment
Cover letters with supporting analysis and examples for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Trade-off: Our pricing lists PDF export under Pro. Broader coaching analytics is a separate workflow, not part of the Free plan’s job-fit scoring.

    Teal

    Editorial fit
    Free starting point
2 cover-letter credits; unlimited resume creation and job tracking. A credit reset period is not specified on the cited page.
    Analysis and review
Resume analysis and job-description keyword matching; more extensive analysis in Teal+.
    Why this assessment
A resume workspace with a connected letter generator and unlimited free tracking.

Trade-off: The listed free letter allowance is two credits. Our review has not established equivalent guidance across all three DACH countries.

    Huntr

    Editorial fit
    Free starting point
2 application packets, basic matching/scoring and tracking for up to 100 jobs. Limited complimentary AI credits.
    Analysis and review
Resume/job matching, resume review and job-search metrics, with advanced tools in Pro.
    Why this assessment
Organising saved jobs, tailoring resumes and preparing application documents together.

Trade-off: Free tracking stops at 100 jobs; extensive AI use and advanced metrics need Pro. DACH-specific guidance was not established in this review.

    Kickresume

    Editorial fit
    Free starting point
4 basic CV templates, 4 matching letter templates and unlimited downloads. AI writing is listed under Premium.
    Analysis and review
Premium includes an ATS resume checker; generated letter text can be edited or regenerated.
    Why this assessment
A broad choice of matching CV and letter designs, with AI writing on paid plans.

Trade-off: Free templates do not include the AI writer or resume checker on the cited pricing page. Those are Premium features.

    AIApply

    Not rated yet
    Free starting point
Limited free access to explore core tools, including a sample letter. No monthly letter count is stated on the cited page.
    Analysis and review
Manual application kits combine tailored documents. Auto Apply is a separate workflow with its own review options.
    Why this assessment
Application kits and automation options; choose the workflow that gives you the review control you want.

Trade-off: We could not establish a comparable free letter allowance or the depth of applicant-facing fit analysis from these sources, so we have not assigned stars.

    Karivo

    Editorial fit
    Free starting point
A free account includes 10 visible AI job matches and one complete application, once.
    Analysis and review
Explains fit and gaps; keeps CVs and letters editable, with application tracking and RAV reporting.
    Why this assessment
Swiss job discovery and application administration, with manual final review and submission.

Trade-off: The documented focus is Switzerland, rather than all three DACH countries. The free complete application is a one-off allowance.

Credits, application packets and reusable templates are different things. Check the linked plan before subscribing, especially whether an allowance renews and which exports or analysis features it includes.

A letter with the reasoning beside it

Aisha’s fictional senior-product application shows the connection. Her experience includes customer research and an onboarding project with engineering and design. Her German is B2. The letter can explain the relevant work while the fit review keeps the language requirement visible.

    Bewerbung als Senior Product Manager

    Sehr geehrtes Personalteam

Gap / unknown: German B2; this role asks for C1.

Use the analysis to decide what to say

A score is a starting point. Look at the experience behind it and the requirements that remain open. Use a supported achievement in your letter, keep the same facts in your CV, and decide whether a gap needs clarification before you apply. A better sentence cannot supply a qualification you do not have.

    Explore job-fit analysis

For a broader view across applications, DraftApply also offers job-search review and coaching workflows. These are separate from the Free plan’s job-fit scoring; check the relevant access and plan before starting.

    Local context you can inspect

Our DACH focus is visible in the German, Austrian and Swiss application guides and complete document examples. Compare the structure, wording and explanation of international experience for your destination. Follow the employer’s instructions for the particular vacancy. Other tools may also support these markets; local focus is a reason to inspect our examples, not a promise that every application follows one national rule.

How to judge precision and time saved

We test application workflows and work on the consistency of the facts, review steps and document output. For your own choice, try the same CV and vacancy in the tools you are considering. Check what you can reuse and how much correction the final application needs:

    • Does the draft preserve your responsibilities, dates, language level and shared credit?
    • Can you understand a gap, correct a claim and review the resulting document?
    • Can you find the right CV and letter again when you return to the application?
    • How long does it take you to reach a draft you are comfortable sending?

    Choose around your next application

DraftApply is worth trying if you want to start with a cover letter, understand your fit and use DACH examples along the way. Teal and Huntr offer substantial resume and tracking workflows. Kickresume is worth exploring for document design, AIApply for application kits and automation, and Karivo for Swiss job discovery and RAV administration. The useful comparison is the application you can prepare and review with each.

Start with your next cover letter

Try a vacancy-based preview, then bring your own experience into the application workflow. A free account includes five cover letters each month, with job-fit scoring and tracking.

No account needed: start with a vacancy and a cover-letter draft.
