    Sound familiar?

    • I don’t know if anyone even opened it.
    • I’m qualified. Why does nobody call?
    • Is it my name? My German? My CV?
    • I rewrite the same letter at midnight, again.

No reply to job applications in Germany, Austria or Switzerland: short answers

Why am I not getting replies to my job applications?

Applications are often screened in seconds. If page one doesn’t show the experience this job asks for, plus your work permit, language level and when you can start, it is easy to move on. Silence rarely means you are unqualified. It often means the match wasn’t visible.

How long should I wait for a reply?

Two to four weeks is common in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and longer at large companies and in the public sector. After about three weeks without news, a short, polite follow-up email is fine.

Should I keep sending the same CV?

No. Each job weights different experience. Find what this job asks for, move your matching experience to the top of your CV and write a letter about this job, not about jobs in general.

    How does DraftApply help?
